The 10th Sino-German Agricultural Week Kicks Off

The 10th Sino-German Agricultural Week kicked off in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province, on Oct. 21. Li Jinghui, Member of the CPC Leading Group of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks. 

Li noted that since the establishment of a comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Germany ten years ago, the bilateral cooperation mechanism has continuously improved, economic and trade cooperation has steadily progressed, and S&T achievements have been recorded in multiple areas. The Sino-German Agricultural Centre has become an influential platform for pragmatic agricultural cooperation between China and Europe. China hopes to deepen mutually beneficial cooperation and mutual trust with Germany; expand cooperation and exchanges in areas such as rural development and sci-tech innovation; and leverage the role of the Sino-German Agricultural Centre, thus positively contributing to global food security and sustainable development. 

Silvia Bender, State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany, Patricia Flor, German Ambassador to China, and Xia Xinmin, Vice-Governor of Jiangsu Province, also attended the opening ceremony. Representatives from government departments, research institutes, and industry associations of both countries participated. This year's agricultural week featured a series of events focused on sustainable agriculture development, including an opening ceremony, keynote speeches, dialogues and seminars, and field trips. 

During the opening ceremony, Li and Bender exchanged views on various topics, including animal health and ecological agriculture. They also witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Veterinary Drug Quality between China and Germany.
